Natural jute fibres are braided and the tight braid is then stitched by hand into these lovely eco-friendly placemats.

Women with disabilities make these placemats whilst working in a fine fair trade organisation called Integrated Development Trust (IDT) in South India. The work provides for their livelihoods and a number of women report that they have used their earnings to pay for the education of their siblings or nephews and nieces.

The placemats are available in three sizes and look very goodwith a natural jute fibre bowl and coaster set (see below)
